About
Katie has been in private practice as a holistic psychotherapist for 19 years. After 23 years of searching and personal growth, Katie has realised that everything comes down to the quality of love we have for ourselves and others. She has a passion to help others recognise and believe in their potential so they can make a difference to the world.
Katie Todd began her career in a totally different direction: a professional trumpet player. After receiving her music degree at the University of Western Australia (as Terri Anderson – a story for another day!), she toured Europe with the Australian Youth Orchestra in 1984 and then studied music therapy for 12 months, on a graduate Rotary Scholarship at the University of Kansas. These amazing and life defining experiences left Katie somewhat bewildered and lost on her return to Australia. Who was she, and where to now? Five years of tertiary education and still there was no clear path. This experience significantly influenced her later work with the archetypes.
To complicate matters, Katie’s chronic health issues – primarily migraine headaches -left her even more paralysed. By the age of 24, her doctor informed Katie that she was eligible for a disability pension. Her migraines were leaving her bedridden four to eight days every fortnight. Having had such a promising start to life with overseas travel and opportunities, this was a truly shattering announcement. Western medicine was unable to help, something that enraged Katie and therefore made her condition worse. As a last resort she began therapy in group psychodrama courses.
Today, it is clear to Katie that this indeed was one of the purposes of her fragile health, to lead her to the work she now loves. But back then, it was a mystery and extremely challenging. There followed 23 years of exploration into holistic health practices which have provided the foundation for Katie’s unique work. Today she is migraine free.
On a personal note, in May 2009 Katie married the love of her life, best friend and soul mate, Trevor Todd! She has three wonderful children, Eden, Jessie and Sandy. She was previously married for 16 years and embarked on a solo life in November 2005 with the hope that there really was love and joy somewhere in the world. And so another life changing period began, greatly extending Katie at times, but something she now sees as incredibly precious and enriching.
Katie’s focus now is to continue teaching people who they are, and who they can be, with archetypes. Her greatest passion however is to enable others to discover the love that she is now blessed to experience! Her next book, ‘Cell Mates or Soul Mates’, will reveal how to differentiate between a cell mate or a soul mate. It will reveal the skills required to nurture the soul mate relationships we desire. Workshops for singles, couples and adults, which examine relationships, will be her new focus. Katie is loving her return to writing, and her blog, and looks forward to meeting many fabulous new souls embarking on a similar journey!
