Description
This archetype is based in legend. It is about a king who desires more and more wealth. His greed leads him to assume that gold is the only thing of value, and he is delighted when everything he touches turns to gold. Only when he touches his little daughter and turns her to gold too, does he realise the error of his ways.
Those with this archetype may well be living out the myth, having profound relationship issues particularly with their daughters, but also with their sons. The term ‘the Midas touch’ is still in use today, describing, often in envious tones, those who seem to make money effortlessly.
The lesson of understanding the value of money, and resisting the temptation to forsake relationships for the sake of accruing wealth is still a hard one to learn. Those with this archetype can find their work creates exponentially far greater financial rewards than others who work just as hard.
