New Years Resolutions – Let Your Archetypes Be Your Guide

A new year is a great time to take an archetypal quest. Something about a fresh year is motivating to people — even if some of them are only motivated in the first week or so. Learning more about yourself can help you decide where you’d like to go in the next year.

Some people will resolve choose an old standby resolution, such as to: lose weight, quit smoking, be more organised, etcetera but why not just resolve to become more in tune with yourself? You can take the entire year to do it and feel like you’re benefiting yourself instead of depriving yourself. Of course, it’s a good idea to become fit, quit a bad habit, or clear out the clutter in your home but an archetypal quest could help you clear out some clutter in your overall life so you can gain some focus.

Learning about your own archetypes can help you in many ways.  It could help you decide on a new hobby to take up. It could help you make a career change. It could help you make decisions about your future.

What’s an archetype?

The term was coined by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. Archetypes are often defined as the epitome of a particular model or a personality trait. You might be known as a queen, a hero, or a mentor but you’ll have other types of traits as well and that’s why taking a quest to learn more about who you are can be helpful in finding new direction for a new year in your life.
