Using Archetypes to Improve Sibling Relationships

Relationships are a vital part of life and our relationships with our siblings can be very important throughout our lives. How we get along with family members can impact us regardless of our age. Whether you want to improve your relationship with your own siblings or are concerned with your childrens’ sibling relationships, both personality and upbringing will play a big part in the way two people in a sibling relationship function. Understanding your archetypes and the archetypes of your brothers and / or sisters can help, too.

Two children can grow up identically in the same house and turn out to be two very different people.  A lot of factors, including your own archetypes will impact who you become as an adult and what types of personalities you get along best with.

Some siblings have very close-knit relationships and some drift apart as they grow up and begin lives of their own.  Some have issues that they need to work through from their childhood that could improve their relationship with each other and their own self esteem as well. Feeling accepted and loved unconditionally by our family is important to our emotional well-being — whether we realize (or admit) it or not.

If you are a parent, understanding the archetypes of your children can help you be a facilitator in their relationship with one another. Ultimately, it is their relationship but your child rearing and the overall dynamic in your home from the early years will make an impact on that.

If you are someone who wants to improve your relationship with your sibling(s), an archetypal quest can help you understand them and help you to better understand yourself. This knowledge can help you with self awareness and acceptance of your sibling for who s/he is.
